halloween redeemed

when i was maybe in 5th or 6th grade, my dad completely ruined halloween for me. i won't go into the details, but he scared the absolute crap out of me, and i have hated the stupid holiday ever since. i hate anything that has to do with masks. if i can't see your face, i want nothing to do with you. so, of course, when halloween rolls around, i pretty much avoid anything to do with it. i will pass out candy, but if anyone with a mask comes to the door, cody has to answer it. i like the little kids with their cute costumes, but that's pretty much it.

until this year...

this year, witout a doubt, was the BEST halloween ever! i mean, look at my sweet girl's face...you just can't beat it! we went trick or treating with one of her best buds, and his wonderful parents and sister. they had an absolute blast. they ran and skipped and held hands from house to house. the squealing and giggling did my heart so much good. hannah absolutely redeemed halloween for me. i realized it doesn't have to be about all the scary stuff. it can be all about the cute and fun stuff, and definitely the CANDY!!!

oh, hannah does this mama's heart so much good, and makes me so happy.

after the trick or treating, we went back to our friends house where the kids proceeded to act like tornadoes in the living room from their sugar highs! we got them jammied up, hoping they would lie down and "rest", but no such luck! they were just having too much fun!

thank you, hannah, for reminding me it's ok to act like a kid sometimes! :)
